as the french say… “sh*t is getting real”
lots of changes in the last few months; quit our jobs, took on roommates, leased our car, got every shot/immunization under the sun, researched countless travel itineraries, booked numerous flights/airbnbs and we’re just getting started. in that time we’ve managed only one mild breakdown between new roommates and a few minor panic attacks between us – let’s just say that caroline no longer wants to hear the tried and true hogan fundamentals of backpack packing (cliff notes: pack everything up you want then unpack and take out half, repeat as necessary).
in all seriousness, the biggest stress has probably come from our
rediscovered newfound interest in hiking. which basically means we don’t yet know what we’re doing (see image right) but we’re planning for lots of it…here’s to new adventures!
we leave tomorrow and in some sort of wonderful irony the best part of planning this trip has been not planning for what comes after. this is the first time in our lives that we haven’t
had to chosen to worry about what’s next. yes we are a little scared and a little anxious, but confident in the decision we’ve made.
we have too many of our friends and family to thank for the encouragement and reassurance to list. many stars aligned and we seriously are forever grateful to everyone that helped us get to here.
what do we do after? we’ll cross the bridge when we get to it.
